ARDS Network Spring News

Some recent happenings in the ARDS Network:

  • ATS 2011: The ARDS Network's noon session at the ATS International meeting in Denver was very well attended. David Schoenfeld discussed early stopping and interim analysis considerations for ARDSNet trials and Todd Rice and Adrienne Randolph presented the findings from the H1N1 registries. Numerous questions followed presentations.

  • EDEN early vs. later feeding study completed: The EDEN database was locked on may 18th and released to the PIs (Art Wheeler and Todd Rice) on May 26th. Todd and Art will work with the EDEN writing committee to interpret the results in advance of a presentation to the Steering Committee soon. The DSMB will conduct a courtesy review of the data in late June.

  • Network Publications: The ALTA study was accepted and now appears as an ePub ahead of print on the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine website. The OMEGA paper is under review at JAMA and the manuscript describing the pediatric H1N1 cohort was accepted for publication in Pediatrics. The adult H1N1 manuscript is in revision.

  • Current Studies: Enrollment in the SAILS trial (statin vs. placebo for ALI from Sepsis) remains below the contracted rate of 36 patient per month with the hope that enrollment will increase now that the EDEN study-close out and data verification activities are complete.
